    Rob's DC2 F2B tidy up. Biiiiig Update

EF9 build is over, go to page 6 for DC2 F2B build.

Hey guys, thought i would make a lazy build thread for my new Civic.

First things first, thanks to Kane (NVA2ND) for helping me out with looking at it etc and checking everything over for me.

Bought the car from Tauranga a few weeks ago in stock standard condition.
Only modification was a sony headunit. I purchased it from a Nana. I have got service history dating back to 1998 from when it was imported. Has a Spoon Vtec controller. Traced the wire and the module box must have been removed at sometime. I also love the mid wing!

It's a 110 series so it came with ABS
    But LSD gearbox

This is it when i got home:

    Broken glove box

    A quick exterior clean:

Thats all for now. Mods to come

    Re: Rob's EF9 Project

Have purchased a set of D2s for it. Bought Recaro fishnets last week and yet to be fitted.
Fitted a type r Steering wheel.

As for rims, i want to get rid of the MR5s and get a set of 15s of some sort, haven't decided. Really want some P1s but can find a good set that will fit etc.

So you're the one that snapped this up? Its getting really really REALLY hard to find these in this condition along with history like this one, I saw the listing on trademe and wanted to buy it for myself. Also saw you leaving the meet after the nats in the weekend. Congratulations on such a descent condition purchase of an EF9. Can't wait to see your future progress on the vehicle. Look after her!

    Re: Rob's EF9 Project

    OK some mods.

Have just installed a Type R steering wheel.

    Bought D2s to install

Bought Recaro SRIIIs with ef9 rails - cheers N10CIV Just fitted them tonight

Also have Fishnets that i may install instead of the SRIIIs

Also changed the oil, filter and Fuel filter.
Gave the engine bay a good clean. Soon to be tracking down a suitable intake.
Gave the wiper arms a good coat of paint aswell.

Need to fix up the speaker wiring as it wasn't done to a high standard

Thanks for all you positive feedback guys!

You might have to take a locking ring out to get those ones to go low.

    Re: Rob's EF9 Project

Big thanks to Nva2nd for picking up some struts to hold the boot open. Working perfectly. He also picked up this nice cup holder for me.

Started installing the D2s tonight with Kane. Ran into a small problem, since i have D2s that are for DC/EG the eye doesn't match the bolt. Wrong width etc.

So i made up some bushes on the Lathe. Also thanks to Craig (Zombine) for providing helping knowledge with that

The fit perfectly. Nice a snug.

Installed the front coilovers. Just adjusted them till i thought what was a good height. All trial an error.

    After:

Once i have done the rears ill drop the car to the ground and take more pics.

Will be making up brake line brackets this weekend.

    Re: Rob's EF9 Project

    Update!

Decided i wanted to put my Recaro fishnets back in. So i removed the SR-IIIs and installed the fishnets.

Went to a track day at Hampton downs earlier in the month, first time on a track, was great fun.

Didn't really give the car a good check over before i left, but meh. The alignment was all on the piss and my brake rotors were warped.

Once my brakes got hot and i was braking for corners, the whole car shuddering doesn't feel good so i just took it easy.
So the second 20 minute session in felt a grinding noise when i used the brakes. Pulled into the pits. Yep, drivers side brakes pads gone. Day ended and went home. Was still stoked to get out on the track though.

    Damage:

Went to Repco and bought a pair of front rotors and brake pads.

    Items fitted:

WOF time, Removed my D2's and took the car for a warrant. Failed on LH Tie rod.
So i rang Honda and ordered one. (Above pic)Got to my place the same day

Next on the list: New tires, wheel alignment and a cert.

Nice looking EF9 - shame the MR5s aren't 15s or it'd be almost perfect! But then, I love MR5s... I had them on my old EF9 and now have a different set on my E-AT.

    Subscribed for updates.

wow... nice car man... i'd say go for a nice type r build, b18 or k20... whatever path u decide to go with, my 2 cents is keep the interior in tact. The car is already light and the interior condition looks beautiful.

One cosmetic mod I did on my EF9 was a red stripe (pic below)... I did not regret that, looked very cool... man, i miss my EF9

Anyway... You got a very nice buy, look forward to seeing the progress

    Re: Rob's EF9 Project

Only go k20 if you have the time, money and patience. EF is a challenging chassis to use. EF9 is harder again.
