Miller's EG Build - Update 16/1/12

Hey

Been lurking on here a while, and know a few of you, but i finally brought a Honda , so i thought i should start a build thread.


Its a 1992 EG4 Civic hatch.

My plan is to strip as much out of it as I can, put a cage and a B16A in it and have some fun.

Havent done to much to it yet, as ive only had it a couple of weeks.

And whats a build thread without pics.....



This is how it looked when i brought it:











I then got stuck into stripping all the interior out...













Them comes the fun task of removing all the old shitty sound deadning..

And while I was doing that I got Brent stuck into removing the air con, and all bits that go with it..






Thats about as far as I have got for the time being, I am about to go outside and try finish off removing the last of the sound deadning, and all the residue. So will post some finsihed pics up hopefully tonight..

Looks like a nice car man. I was going to do an EG build initially before I stretched the budget for an itr.

Na hasnt been in a major crash or anything, just had the drivers side resprayed after a little car park rash, but they didnt do the front guard.

In real life you can hardly notice the different colour, must just be the light in that shot that makes it look really different.




Also went along to the AAP meet on Tuesday and brought some goodies..


ISL Front strut brace

ISL Fender gussets (not in picture)

Blox Velosity stack and air filter

And a genuine Honda air con bung, to plug up the hole left by removing the A/C.







Also brought a brand new Sabelt Racer Duo FIA approved seat.

Na, no plans on what wheels I want, thats a long way down the track

Not going to get that much done on it this weekend, as im heading down to Taupo with brent for honda cup, but the weekend after im hoping to get the engine out, so that will be a nice thing to get out of the way.

Well.

Ive been very slack at updating this thread


I have done a bit more to the car now, its almost ready for the cage, just trying to get the funds together haha.



Removing all the looms:






Removing the engine:

Gutting the rear hatch:








Also made up some boot latches, seen as i cut the old ones out







And thats about it for now. Just saving up, then ill book it in for a cage.
Just doing little bits from now till then, like cutting out excess metal etc

Its bungy cord with some lugs I crimped on the end, actually works really well.

Im still in 4 figures Added it up recently.. Very easy to do if you make wise purchases and feed people beer to help

Another up date..

The car is booked in for a cage next saturday!!!!

So that is nice, but now it means i have a date that i have to get everything ready by lol...

Still want to gut a bit more of the rear of the car out, while its still easy, before the cage goes in..

And have to get the windows taken out, which i think i have sorted..



Anyway..

Some pics of the pointless stuff i have been up to..


I recently brought a full Hardrace EG bush kit off Alan Stewart..

So i got started in removing all the old bushes out of the arms, giving the arms a clean up, and installing the new Hardrace bushes..



Brand new upper control arms, with Hardrace bushes installed







Cleaned up front lower control arms with the new bushes





Also i needed some new front wheel bearings, as i noticed they had a bit of play in them..

So got carried away with my new press and pressed out the wheel bearings and hubs out of the front knuckles..






Still yet to install the new bearings..

Im also going to replace the lower ball joints as they were pretty stuffed as well..



So now i have to get the windows taken out, and gut the rear a bit more, then its ready for next saturday.. And the Cage
