mmm my AT civic wasn't anything like that, but still regret not owning it anymore, fun wee cars, cost me $300 with slipping clutch, 220,000k on the clock, fixed the clutch and used it for a work car for a while then sold it at $1 Res and got $1200 for it hehe.

Was pretty rough when I got it too, But ended up fixing it up, pic is when I got it, Can't find the other pics, will be around somewhere though.

Nice! Yea, I only paid only $550 for mine. had a failed WOF, but the whole list was bullshit. Took it somewhere else and it passed first time.

Have already been offered over $2k for it. But it's not for sale!!!! haha

At least 2/3 are good man, one of them I can't install without taking the dump pipe off, but will get around to it sometime.

The suspension was totally shot in mine, I remember taking it for a drive to Akaroa, it squeeled the tyres around alot of the corners, even when going fairly slow hehe.

Hmmm my DLS Speaker vs Factory door mount, as you can see, my speakers way too deep for it, doh, I will have to cut the bottom off it, however the speaker may hit the glass.. looks like I better make some form of.. spacer

thats exactly what happened when i put components in my ef9, just cut the back off the holder thing??and spaced it out a fraction to miss the glass. has plenty of room before it hits the door card so never had any dramas

I took these out of my EF7 today, I had no problems with them fitting as the backs were already cut off.

The CD6 should have room too, as long as I space it out a little..

Installing the tweeters could be fun too, as there are factory ones in the dash, hopefully I can put them in the same location.

Re: Charlies EF7 Turbo and CD6 Accord, mods and repairs

Today I tackled the Main Relay on the Accord. (I got the no starting issue today when I stopped to get fuel)
It wasn't that bad to get out, although it was uncomfortable lying on my back under the dash lol, I removed the panel under the steering wheel 1st of course.

Heres a pic of the relay just after removal, its sure looking its age (17 years old)

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I then plugged in the soldering iron, however it was a cheap nasty thing and wasn't heating up enough to melt the solder (Iron shown in pic) I then went to hammer hardware accross the road and purchased a new iron.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I re-heated the solder joins and re-installed the relay (I disconnected the - terminal on the battery before removal)
Tried to reproduce the starting problem, seems to be sorted, time will tell

---------- Post added at 08:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:00 AM ----------

I also ordered a CD6 Rear tail light from partsguru for $45, mines cracked and hopefully the cause of water getting into the boot and under back seat.

I need to fix leaks before installing SUB and AMP, don't want them ruined by dampness, I left the amp and sub in the boot overnight, it didn't rain, but the amp felt kinda wet this morning.

---------- Post added at 08:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 AM ----------

I also gave the engine bay a quick clean on the RED CRX, since it needs to be presentable for sale, it still doesn't look that good now, but it was 10x worse before.. the engine bay is one thing I never got around to cleaning.

The cleaning process involved wrapping up Dizzy in plastic, and spraying engine with degreaser then hosing off.

Would have been nice to repaint the valve cover, but don't really want to put any more effort into a car i'm not keeping.

Once the RED CRX is sold and I have finished audio install on the Accord i'll focus some attention back onto the turbo crx, currently still waiting for engine mount inserts to arrive, (ordered on the 11th) usually USPS is quick as, but not this time hehe.

I need to look into a brake upgrade for the CRX, I was thinking Prelude Calipers with Re-Drilled Discs for 4x100, will get some decent brake pads (probably just Bendix Ultimates) and some Motul Dot4 Brake fluid, that should give this sub 900kg car enough braking power.

Then theres tyres, am going to order those cheap semi slicks (Achilles 123) at $100 + GST each from Goodyear Timaru, apparently the only catch is that I have to pay to have them fitted at a Goodyear Re-seller in CHCH.

I won't be using this car as a daily driver, so tyre wear isn't a big deal, I just need traction!

Twin spot calipers from a CA Accord should also bolt straight up to your hubs. They run with 240mm dics, but are twin piston vs the single piston of the Prelude setup.

Hmm maybe that could be a good cheap option, assuming I can find some cheapish, did it make much difference to your 1ST gen CRX? was keen on the EF upg for sale on here, but the seller was quoted $120 for shipping to send it to me, doh.

^ Yea made a huge difference, the calipers are a similar size to the 5G Prelude ones, but twin piston. The 1G could easily out brake my SiR Delsol with the 262 single pot brakes.

Energy Engine Mount inserts now installed, however the rear mount was totally rooted, so has been replaced with a new item + the mount inserts.

The car feels alot more stable under power now, so end result was worth it, but most of it could be due to the new engine mount.

Still need to sort the radiator out, this is the only mount holding it on, can move it around easily and its basically resting on the bottom hose, however the radiator is only a tiny single core thing, I should really upgrade it.

Dyno Run done today, Power Run only, 133kw at wheels, not a bad result considering the condition of the car lol, 9.4PSI boost, Tiny VF10 Turbo.

    Its running too Rich.
Spec Performance reckon it could make 150kw with a good tune, although this could be pushing the limits of the stock internals some what.

At the end of the dyno video you will see alot of smoke from the engine bay, thanks to the bad oil return line, don't worry, it didn't die or anything hehe

Just shows what a good tune can do - you could probably get a couple more kW on a little less boost if it was tuned a bit better, always good for longevity Still need to go for a spin in this!

All in good time, have worked out why the engine bay filled with smoke on the dyno run, the bolts that hold the wastgate onto the manifold are just not cutting it.. they were loose and the gasket between the 2 was damaged.. probably due to it not staying tightly done up.

I had already changed most of the other bolts, but had neglected to do these ones.

Thing is, the wastgate flange should really be studded, but its not.. someones drilled it out. so I should probably get a new one welded on.

This exhaust leak would have probably resulted in loss of power on the dyno and may have even helped it run too rich, not sure if its causing the boost to drop off though.. on the dyno it was down to 7.9 psi at peak KW.. if this had stayed at 9.4psi I would have maybe got another 10hp or so
