What i was getting at was you can mount your wastegate like this
    http://www.boombopracing.com/ebay/pi...tdp-dsm4-1.jpg

Means not having to screw with the manifold at all. You also wont have to weld up the wastegate hole. Its easy enough to knock one up too.

I dont know why the boost was all over the show, i have a feeling it was just due to the poor design of the manifold.

I was just saying that with mine before i put on the w/g it felt 10x faster than it did with the wastegate on. I think if i hadve plumbed it up it would've made a big difference.

That looks awesome, however Ive got a replacement manifold for a good price and the welding work was done by Spec2. So I still have my OEM manifold if I want to revert back

I may do that in the future.

BUMP what car did you have the WG on? any pics of the manifold/WG setup?

    Some stuff arrived today.

Gauges and silicone stuff to tidy the bay up, they stuffed up my order and sent me a extra intercooler reducer lol

Re: CP9A Lancer Evolution V Build

Well not much progress this last week or weekend, been busy with other stuff.

still no wheels Ressa is still hunting for me, going to try another supplier.

Ive been looking into what to do with my internal wastegate, not really keen on having to weld things if I want to sell it or revert back, so will make up a bracket with a threaded rod

    much like this

Nyemetz1 has sorted me with a thermostat which I will pick up next week along with the manifold.

Pic of the manifold, welding was done by Spec2 so should be good, was previously on EVHOE (NZPC issue #151) before it had a makeover. Will need to find 2 bolt for the EGR ports to block off.

I still have my OEM manifold if I need to change back.
I test fitted the intercooler, fits perfectly behind the OEM bumper, its a little tight around the inlets as they sit right against the fog lights but won't have to cut anything, should have no issues once I find a Evo6 bumper.

Will have to wait until the turbo is back on the car so I can fit the cooler in the right place so all the pipes match up etc, just need some metal brackets bent to shape and bolted up to the OEM mounts to hold it in place, shouldn't be to much hassle.

The OEM radiator will be going back on just to flush/clean all the crap out before being taken out and replaced with alloy item and some blue hoses.

Wastegate will be a genuine Tial 38mm item, blue top to match everything else in the bay.

Many thanks to Ressa from Frank Allen tyres for finding me the right valve stems, it took a while but got there in the end, will be picking up the manifold and thermostat to.

    PM Nyemetz1 on here

Had the arvo off so picked up some bits

BOOM wheels and tyres finally done, repainted Weds Sport SA-90 17x9" +35 wrapped in Dunlop DZ101 225/45/17, no cheap nasty yellowsea/linglong/triangle/kingstar rubber on this car.

Also picked up some bits to make up a bracket to hold the wastegate shut, the threaded rod only comes in 1M lengths but will cut it down, the L bracket just needs some holes drilled and cut down in size, also bolts to block off the EGR ports on the manifold, should all work ok. Got all the bits (minus the bracket) from The Bolt Shop, this place is awesome, has almost any type of bolt/nut you can think of.

Had a look at the plugs, seem in good nick, they all match the same as what a healthy plug should look like.

Plugs turned out to be NGK Iridium IX BPR7EIX plugs and the leads are NGK Hyper Silicone so no need to upgrade these.

A sneak peek of of the rims, I did munch the wheel nuts but was expecting it, will get a new set when I upgrade the rotors/pads/lines and repaint the calipers.

Will make up the WG bracket this weekend and fit the turbo/manifold/intake/intercooler etc

Made up the WG bracket, about $12 in bits, bugger all

    Fitted up, rock solid, sweet.

Picked up the manifold, looks good, no cracks, awesome welds, will be a tight squeeze to get the exhaust pipe off it as the air con line is pretty close but shouldn't be to much hassle.

Also picked up the thermostat, quick question, it has a clip (like the same that holds a wastegate arm onto the flapper, small metal thing) that holds a spring down, do you take this out? or leave it as is? its a genuine item, will try and get some pics up.

Not to put a downer on things i will be very supriesed if that manifold works. The wastegate port is in the wrong place.

where should it be? I cant think of anywhere else for the port to be placed, it sits above all 4 runners, the previous owner said it worked fine, was sold due to a new turbo/manifold setup.Ive been in other evos, both 5 6 and 7 with a manifold setup just the same as this and they all work fine.

Still doesnt mean its the right place tho lol.
It should work fine, as long as your not expecting to hold low boost levels without spiking. Sub 10psi etc.

i read on mmc that it's meant to come off the middle of the manifold at a about a 90 degree angle for twin scroll turbos so it looks right. I know of another evo 5 that is running the exact same manifold design with no issues

Re: CP9A Lancer Evolution V Build

how else is it supposed to be mounted?

Not keen on having to spend a huge amount on a custom dump pipe-mount off oem wastegate port thing like Built4Speed posted at the top of the page and no point in a a baller manifold because im only using the OEM turbo so no need.
