I wondered what you were doing project wise Jase, looks like you found most likely the best example of EG Civic available in N.Z!!
Are you going to get the time to use it at SIMM??
Right Yesterday and todays efforts, will get some pics up later tonight.
Yesterday droped the calipers in to get machined. they came back looking all good. Went to mount them up and found out the car doesnt actually have DC2 brakes, its still running the stock 242mm ones that it came with from the factory. so there was a miss communication in there some where. But this has put a spin on the front brake swap, as now the caliers dont fit on and the wreckers down here wanted 200 a side for the uprights and hub carriers, no fucken thank you. So no bigger brakes for me which sucks a bit and means i wont be doing much racing tomorrow.
On another not though we lowered the car another 15mm from where we had it when we installed the suspension and its now sitting 205mm from the bottom of the door to the ground.
This morning we took it in to scoobie tires to get the tires swaped onto the work's rims and then get a wheel alignment. The wheels look good on the car but look like they could do with some more offset. so 10mm spacers may be on the cards a little later down the track. I got the camber set to 2.7deg on the front and 2deg on the rear, and the toe to 0mm on the front and .5mm toe in in the rear. Brian seems to think it handles pretty good now and hes driven it more than i have so far, seems to be the story with this car, everyone else driving it more than me.
After the alignment we took the car for a bit of a thrash as up untill then we had only been tuning the low cam maps, so it was time to work on VTEC, so set at 3000 away we went, only to notice it was running hell lean. so after a few minutes fiddling with it i richened it up a bit and it started to look better. 15minuts later we had some good looking AFR's in vtec. Its on the safe side of things as with the CTR pistons it does have a tendancy to knock, so untill it goes on a dyno its nice and safe.
From there it was off for a cert. Don checked the car over and the drivers side camber arm is pretty close to the seam up under the guard so i just have move the guard liner out of the way so he can see it clears and isnt going to interfear. Hes very pleased with the standard of the car so thats good. Ill sort that issue out and take it back to him on friday.
Brian the nice guy he is gave my car a wash while i was out getting so stuff for SIMM so its all nice and clean now, and we are going to take the 2 cars out for a photoshoot shortly
thats all for now, and there is not a lot more i can really do on it at the moment, as the rest of the bits are in auckland.
Will do a couple of laps tomorrow to check out the handling of the car and just to check the AFR's again.
Stay tuned for Pics
If i saw you on the road, can i say hi? or will u ban me from the road aswell![]()
What pads are you running on the 242mm brakes jase? I ran 242mms with ebc reds last year and they didnt fade to much(there was chunks missing from the pads after though)
You should be able to have a good days racing on them is all im trying to say.
Don't listen to what I say, I make shit up as I go.
Nice work Jase. Are you scruiteneering tomorrow?
I thought I saw Brians Euro R drive past me today!!
Anytime brotherThis morning we took it in to scoobie tires to get the tires swaped onto the work's rims and then get a wheel alignment (after ringing DrRubber for technical support and nearly getting him a ticket for driving with a cellphone).
Looking good bro bring it back to the NI after SIMM kthnx![]()
Yep def needs spacers. Also, which Mugen pads were you going to use? I overheated mine pretty quick on the track albeit they were only Type S.

Car looks amazing man! Those PIC's are beautiful!
I hope this one has an awesome alarm if not gps tracker in it.
Nice and clean car tho
before you know, awake? makes sense, no?
<3 for the hat0rs
isnt that DB at papatoetoe?
Damn those two cars fap fap fapquestion Jase. You said on the first page that your RNR's would be track wheels right? but they have 55 tires on em. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but unless you stay at your current height in the pics won't you get the mad rubbing around a bend? Or you gonna be raising the car for the track day? Either way looks banging man

Good stuff Jase, looks good. Just go with 25mm spacers, you'll squeeze them in easy enough. Im running 15x7 +35 with 25mm spacers all round. 25mm are bolt on too, and most are hub-centric so they get the 'OK' from the cert man![]()
no its not it in chch, there is more than one DB building in NZ
The RNR's are 15x6.5 and the works are 15x7 the tires are currently 195/50/15's. so the works should have the tires sitting out 1/4 of an inch more than the RNR's with 205/55/15 semis they should sit in about the same spot. If i do go for spacers i can always remove them for racing if i need to.
the problem there is there is only 10ish mm between the rear guard and the tire, the rear guard has some rubber protector sleve over the lip on it so i dont know how easy its going to be to roll with that sleeve there, ill do some enquiries about it.
Nope thats not correct
Not more than 10% of the wheel width is positive and not more than 35% of the wheel width is negative so on a 7in wheel or its deemd safe by the certifier as long as all the suspension components can handle the extra loading
Well some bad news today, i rear ended another car (partly his fault partly mine, but the road rules say its all my fault) and ive smashed the front passangers headlight and the bonnet may be repairable. The radiator support panel needs to be pulled back into the right position, and the bumper isnt too bad. but its a right annoyance and im a little pissed at the whole thing. happened before SIMM too so that made the day enjoyable. NOT. so getting the car looked at today to see how bad it all is and what sort of coin im looking at to get it fixed.
Other than that on the track it went alright, i need to run different oil in it as it started to blow a lot once it got reasonably warm. but once it cooled down a bit it was fine , so the car only got 4 laps on the track but it was handling well so the suspension seems to be doing the job, now if only i had the brakes and tires to match
theres bound to be a picture floating round of the car and ill post it up once i find it
Yeah I had a bit of a look at lunch time, gutted about the crash man![]()
efsi: What's wrong with a 4AGE? They're good engines
spooner: They have a flat spot from 0 to 8000rpm.
You got some sweet wheels there bro!!![]()
