Car is in really good condition considering its ages. Its got a 1500 Sohc Injected motor (for the moment ). Only done 143,000 kms, and isn't too rusty! ( And the plastic panels aren't too cracked!) At the moment I'm just going through fixing little things up and getting it up to a nicer standard. Progress so far: 1) Leak hunting. 1G crx's are notorious for water leaks, mine actually resembled a swimming pool after its first night out in the rain. So on Friday I got stuck in and ripped the rear interior out... As I suspected the drains for the sunroof were both completely blocked with crap, and neither of the drain down pipes were connect to the outer guards (Effectively this meant all water from the sunroof was draining into the boot!). This was a pretty filthy job, also a good opportunity to try out the Camera I just bought from Greg! (Cheers mate, works awesome, and the Hannah Montana wrapping was top stuff!) With these cleaned and reconnect I moved to searching for rust. Luckly there wasn't much, these are normally rather rotten around the tail lights, and rear seams. Luckily it seems this car has been well looked after. There was a bit on both sides, although it wasn't bad. I attacked it with a wirebrush and sandpaper as best I could, cleaned with prepsol, then got stuck in with the rust kill. Can rest easy now knowing that it won't get any worse. Next on the list was to replace the cracked tail light. Luckily I was able to find another mint one, it was also another good opportunity to search for rust. After removing there was signs of a little bit of rust under the factory sealer, I picked it off, clean/sanded/rust-killed. Then instead of bogging/welding used a small bit of aluminum tape to seal the hole, benefit of this is that it won't become porous and trap the water, and it also fits flush behind the tail light. Nice new tail light in. Its also throwing an ECU code, and has a funny miss issue under light throttle and when coldSo far have replaced- Main Relay- Two wire water temp sensor - Ordered new plugs, and a rocker cover seal as it needs it badly. Once the plugs are done I'm planning to check/clean the Dashpot system, 02 sensor, Fast Idle Valve, and set the idle mixture properly, as the car is running quite rich at the moment. This could be due to a leaky injector, or the funky 5th injector not working properly, will have to investigate. Any comments/suggests welcome

Re: Matt's 1G Crx tidy up.

Is that the one you had there when I called in on Saturday Matt?

Looks like a pretty tidy one to the untrained eye at least Rare to see them unmolested (read, unbastardised) and in such good nick.

What was up with the idle? seemed to be hunting like a mofo!

Yea, yea soon, aka tomorrow. And lol... will have to see, maybe a zc/b conversion if I can find the bits for the right price... plenty to worry about before that though.

Re: Matt's 1G Crx tidy up.

Got the rust on my Firewall seem fixed today

    Thanks Springsgate Paint and Panel

Also scored this in my strongs run the other day. Originally from a City Turbo, I think it'll suit the crx nicely, plus the oem is ugly as f$#k.

Spotted another water leak today, from the other tail light, will investigate tomorrow after I put the steering wheel on

The best bit with those steering wheels is that in a crash you dont break your wrists, the wheel just bends

Re: Matt's 1G Crx tidy up.

Got the new steering wheel on today, not sure I like it, but meh. Also gave it some new plugs, old ones were pretty fouled. And found out why its running like a bag of arseholes... Cam timing is out by a tooth -face palm-, will remedy this tomorrow after uni.

Re: Matt's 1G Crx tidy up.

Messed around with the timing today, but it still wasn't running right. So went to strongs and bought everything that I thought could be causing the missfire (dizzy, coil, injectors, rail, weird 5th injector system with vacuum piece, vacuum box with sensors)

Replacing the injectors/rail/5th injector seemed to help a lot! Old ones were fucking filthy and the 5th injector seat was all carboned up.

Had some time left to change the wheels over. Not totally sure they suit, but IMO looks a heap better than the old ones. (Even though its still got a tractor like ride height)

    Before
    14x6 "Pro Streets "

    After
    15x7 Rota GT3

Will also have a new wof tomorrow!! Woot, woot just need to change the front brake lines.

Yea I agree, finding suspension for these is near impossible though. Fronts are easy, just wind the torsion bars down, but need some lowering springs + shortened shocks at the back for any kind of decent drop...
