Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - Hub fun and New bits 17/4/10

Haven't done a whole lot since the last update. Changed the bent RH side hub yesterday. A bit hard to tell from the photo, but the two ends of the shock should be level, they were about 15mm out. I know the part where the shock fits into was bent as the new shocks didn't seat properly, I also think the lower part where the arm mounts was bent.

Scummy old Mugen shocks posing for the photos, the two shock bodies should be level.

Had a battle to get the hub nut off, no lubrication when it was done up + no wheel centres = fucking rust. Was on solid could not get it off, even with our powerbar extension (A length of roll cage), so out came the grinder.

Donor hub, showing the tinny standard AT/AS Si Brakes

Accord CA3 Twin Spot calipers + AV Integra 240mm discs.

    Disc comparison.

On the upside, managed to score this last week. Rarer than hens teeth. An uncracked front plastic panel for the CRX, completely un-molestered, with headlight covers

Some old manky Integra DA1 front arms, fitting these to the CRX will give me 1 degree extra negative camber. Getting them off was a mission, will give them a clean up, replace the balljoints and hopefully get some new bushes before instillation.

Unreliable? It went almost 24,000 miles before it needed a complete rebuild! You call that unreliable?!?!?

No, Matt's doing it right for sure. Always good to see new Honda bits strewn about the place when I'm in there

More like a totally immaculate Exige, the suspension looks amazing, inspirational even, what did you use to clean those arms up before they were coated? Del-slow is 98% finished. Needs a new driveshaft and the head re-torqued, a lack of motivation and a busy uni schedule has kept it there in the corner, plus all those pesky Lotuses in the way. (Currently sitting even, 4 Hondas, 4 Lotuses)

Cheers Snoozin. Hopefully one day one of them will be up to the standard of your KP

Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - Hub fun and New bits 17/4/10

Well its been a pretty crap few weeks for the 1G CR-X. Two accidents, neither mine, or its fault. First was some dumb bitch in a Toyota Windom, ran into the back of it in uni parking. Only minor paint damage, and pressed in bumper supports. Second some prick in a Mercedes A Class side swiped me, then proceeded to do a runner. Needless to say I didn't manage to get his plate number. This owned the side mirror, and fucked the near-impossible to find exterior plastic door trim.

    On the upside
    - Passed her WOF.
    - Managed to find a replacement door plastic (I had two spare passengers side ones, the accident was on the drivers side)

    Downside
    - As above, plus the Mrs broke the passengers side door plastic on Friday night.
    - Car pretty much needs a complete paint job now. Have replacement front plastic panel, plus both headlight covers, one gaurds, bonnet (swap to ZC bulge kind), Front bumper, Rear bumper, drivers door, both door trims, the hatch as it has some rust coming through. That pretty much just leaves the passengers door and roof!

On the brighter side.... Did manage to fix the driveshaft on the Delsol, and also picked up another 1G CR-X

Also have some more goodies on their way up from down south

where do you keep finding these 1gs?
Sometimes when I'm driving my civic, I turn off the radio and listen to the exhaust. On those days, I pop my collar extra hard so those who are deaf & waiting at the bus stop can visually see how hard my shit is.

need pretty much all the rear side trims, a glove box, stereo bracket and maybe a LH door trim or back seat

Well. Change of direction. Want to sell up all my old Honda's and parts and buy just one car. Have a car in mind, want to try and get rid of the rest first though, as I don't have room to buy the new one and keep the others.

Its been awhile since any updates, but haven't sold any of them yet. So at this stage the old school cars will be around for a bit longer. Have some new toys coming for the 1G Crx and the 3G Civic this week, should have some pictures up soon.

Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - New Mugen bits 10/8/10

First of the new parts -

Set of Mugen/Showa suspension, I haven't ever seen this particular kind before, and can't find much info on the net. Anyway they will be a nice upgrade for the Civic.

    Managed to find parts
2 - Optional Door pockets - Haven't seen them before, but really handy because the 1G Crx doesn't have much storage space for stuff like your wallet/map/phone
6 - Optional Rear Speaker setup - I've had some covers for a while, but only got the super rare mount brackets today.
31 - Factory Flares for the guards
23 - Optional Rubber rear spoiler, got two now, but the new one is MINT

Not shown above, but I've also just acquired is a random exterior roof vent setup, that goes to adjustable air vents in the inside of the roof.

More updates in a few days, have some more Mugen goodies on there way!!

I love the 1G CRX's, i've owned 2x of them, although the last one in 2001, I had a dark blue one with the 2 tone colour scheme (1.5i SOHC) and a plain white 1.6DOHC SI.. really don't see these cars around much anymore, how do you keep finding them?
