Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - Interior Change over Pt1 + Parts Car - 17/1/10

Wrecked the Yellow Si in the weekend. Holy shit was it rusty.

That's one of the jacking points.

Yes they did fix that massive rust hole with fiberglass
Cheers to everyone that helped out

Camera ran out of batteries, but that's only some of it!

Got a bit done on the Blue one.

-Removed AC System, fitted AC Delete duct (The fan/demister actually work now)
-Fitted the Black dash/door cards, repainted the cluster surround and trip meter cover to match the dash
-Re-wired the stereo so it was a little less of a mess

    Also wrecked an EB.

Bought another 1G CR-X too, just couldn't help myself

Front plastic is FUCKED. (Has been fixed with tape lol), but other than that its a mint car. Only done 143,000 kms. Interior is black, and perfect. So will probably swap the door cards and rear interior into the blue on. Then its going down the line to another NZH member.

Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - New Headers - 14/2/10

Finally got some time this weekend to fit my headers. What should have been a 1 - 2 hour job turned into a bit of a mission. They were D15b headers, now I knew they wouldn't be a straight fit, between ZC and the SOHC D the ports are slightly offset. So I grabbed a dremell and ported the manifold out to suit the ZC gasket. Then heat wrapped them for good measure (The manifold sits about 2mm away from the bottom of the block at one point). Then found the Secondaries were well off, instead of going to meet the down pipe in the tunnel, they were on the completely wrong angle and were jammed up against the steering rack.

All Heatwrapped ready to go (First time round)

    Ported Flange

OMGZ JDM y0 Twin pipe OEMZ muffler... is fucked. Straight to the bin.

    New Plymouth Spec

Gay old Carby ZC manifold vs new FGK one.

We attempted to heat and bend the secondaries to re-align them, but that failed, So Sean cut and welded them. Turned out perfect. 5 mins on the dremmel at home and I had all the weld spatter out inside.

Will update tomorrow with some more pictures.

Although slow progress was made, did score a few more top secret goodies for the CRX... An Aftermarket ECU and some old school JDM rims

Nice work, would love a set of extractors for the AT. Just hard to find. Custom might be the way, huh?

Reckon it would be hard to get custom ones made, there is fuck all space to work between the motor and radiator. Modifying the D ones isn't too hard. Just would have been helpful to know how different the secondaries are.

Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - New Headers - 14/2/10

Finished off the exhaust today, ^ Secondaries now pointing in the right direction. This was the only picture I took all day though. Sounds good, two reso's no muffler, no tinny Honda B16a DA sound, thank god. Cheers to the boys at Repco for the hook ups on gasket goo/cv ties etc, and Sean for the pro job welding!

Picked up a new B16a2 for the Delslow, so that will be this weekends project.

Re: Matt's Old School Honda Thread - New Headers - 14/2/10

Not much progress on the 1G Crx. Got some cool new bits on their way next week

Got the old motor out of the DelSlow today, will put some pictures up tomorrow. All go for the motor swap/rebuild.

Oh, also picked up these for the 1G.

Old school Rays Engineering / Volk Racing 5/4S (14x6 +38 Honda Specific)

They are in pretty rough condition, but rare as fuck. I've heard conflicting information about them, some say the 4 spokes should be at the front (Reduced unsprung mass), some say 5's should be on the front (Extra strength for the track)

Either way, thought they were something pretty different (I was really after Mugen CF48s, I'm not a fan of the MR5 on the CR-X, they really suit the Civic, so theres not a lot of choice around for period JDM rims), undecided if I will restore them to silver, or paint them something crazy like Orange!

Dont make the mistake I did, thinking bright wheels would suit, they may not....

    Doesn't hurt to try though.

Not too sure about it yet. Have another set of old school JDM wheels, 4 Spokes, black with a polished lip, thought I'd try something different with these.

Needs slammage before the little 14"s go on though...

if you're going to get them tiding up anyway just do a couple of test paint jobs with a spray can, test out a few different colours

but personally i think they need to be something plain and boring like silver
