George's Exige build blog

This blog chronicles the 3+year long saga that grew out of a 6-month tidy-up of my Series 1 Lotus Exige. It started out with honest, and modest intentions of tidying up some bits and pieces, and removing some rough edges. It has ended up being a full rebuild of the car with the aim of making a near-concours condition car that breathes fire and awesomeness on the road as well as being a bit brisk at the track.

Pull up a chair, put the kettle on and follow me on my journey...

  1. Refitting rear lights

    by , 10th January 2011 at 01:13 PM (George's Exige build blog)
Went out and saw the car today.... sadly Ken's not had a chance to get to it yet and it won't be looked at until late in the week sadly... this is a right royal pain in the ass since I'll not have the car back here this weekend and I desperately need to get a bunch of stuff done on it.... still, ...

    by , 9th January 2011 at 01:11 PM (George's Exige build blog)

Well we're back on deck for the new year and HOPEFULLY this one will be slightly more successful than the last at actually being able to finish this thing!

The car spent Christmas in at KW and the engine will be pulled next week and the errant oil seal replaced. This shouldn't be a ...

  4. Dyno run-in and mapping

    by , 23rd December 2010 at 04:59 AM (George's Exige build blog)
Spent today on the dyno getting the engine initially broken in under load and base-mapped up to about 6500 RPM. Obviously things are still conservative and it's not been done with the intention of getting max power out of it, but the engine ran very sweetly and sounded nice and angry!

  5. Odyssey battery fitting

    by , 20th December 2010 at 04:57 AM (George's Exige build blog)
    Another minor update.

I've got the Odyssey battery and have redesigned the battery clamp. This has been sent off to manufacture and I'll have it mid-January after the Christmas shut-down.

The IAT sensor has been moved to the back of the carbon airbox and gives sensible ...
